Title: Rawhide string loop?
Post by: nclonghunter on November 27, 2013, 11:31:42 pm
When making a rawhide bow string, what is the best way to make the loop for the top nock. I tie the bottom securely to stay, but the top must slide off when unstrung. Any ideas on the best loop knot?

I made another rawhide string and used two lengths twisted together and was able to make a Flemish style end, but I am wanting to make one with a single twisted string of rawhide.

I think you just tie a loop. You fold the tag end against the main string then just do an over hand knot with the loop

Okay Thanks Wood Bandit, I know how to tie several types of knots but some knots create pressures on the string that will cause it to break easier due to a pin point pressure. That's why Flemish string loops distribute the pressure evenly into the string.
Thanks again, Happy Thanksgiving
