Not sure if this is in the right place, but it is a self yew prod. ;) Admins/Mods please feel free to move if necessary.
Sorry the vid is a bit long... I made it for the guy that helped me build the stock.
-
If that was me with that setup, I would so end up shooting a car, like my first shot. ;D Very cool X bow, that is definitely on my list, but for the life of me I can't figure out the nut. Very slick though.

I have a friend that wants one so I'm gonna do hickory backed osage. Should be fun build and a nice shooter! That is cool. Now make a real bow ;) lol
-
That's AWESOME. Really really cool!
-
Nice vid, good commentary.

Sweet crossbow!
-
Very sweet! I wanted to make one but everyone was saying you needed a horn belly, well backed prod and I have no horn. Its happening now though, making one for sure!
-
Very cool, I like it.

Did you like the part when my wife wants to know "are we done yet?" ;D ;D I think she was getting cold!

I have another rawhide backed yew self prod roughed out, and I'd like to try and get 80-100#s out of it. I think it's possible.
-
Great job man. Looks like a hoot to shoot :). Nice work on the fit and finish.
-
one of those " I need to make one myself" kind of projects. looks like a fun time shooting it.
-
Wow that thing shoots unbelievably well nice job
-
"Are we done yet?" hahaha......good for Linda for staying out that long. Mine would have quit about four minutes before that. Very nice Adam, looks like you are having a blast shooting it. Going for deer with it?
-
Going for deer with it?
That's a hell of an idea Dave. Now you got my gears turning... :)
-
this is brilliant, defo gone on my list of things to do. nice work.
-
Excellent job on that Xbow & prod.......... 8)

Hey, Dave... no can't. Prod has to be 150# to be legal.

I forgot about the 150 pounds. Hmmm.....I say just turn it sideways and say that you are using a mechanical release.

Nice enough job to get me to post. :) What material did you make the rolling nut from? How about the sear? Steel?
Dane
-
Nut is delrin, sear is steel.
-
Pretty slick! 8) I always wondered how they held that style of cross bow.
Nice job! ;) Next time tell....uh..... ask the wife to shoot from behind you so we can see the flight of the bolt. ;)

I have to say the sound of it shooting and then the distant tap sound pretty cool, makes me think of a rifle, defiantly putting this on my list
Now laws aside what could you effectivly hunt with it?
-
Cool stuff!
Dang, now that I've seen you in person, I feel less compelled to argue with you.
Well... no. Not really. >:D
-
Thanks, adb. Delrin is a good choice for rolling nuts. Easy to work, too. I can see the crossbow is putting it's spell on all these vertical bow folks. :).
-
I think it's pretty cool, too! It would be nothing with a steel prod, but with the self yew prod, it's unique. Needless to say, I'm really happy with how it turned out and it's a blast to shoot. Once you get used to the trajectory, it vey accurate to 30 yards without any sights. I'm definitely building another one. I'm shooting for 80-100#s self yew prod, and maybe a darker stock... walnut or cherry.
