Title: Does old tru oil get super sticky?
Post by: toomanyknots on October 19, 2013, 07:35:29 pm
Just wondering. I just got a new bottle of tru oil, and it is not near as sticky as the first I tried. The first I got from woodcrafters, I am guessing it might of been a 90 year old sample. It was so sticky I could barely rub it on a bow for 5 seconds and I would start sticking to the bow. It did dry in about an hour though. The new bottle I got is a lot less sticky.

If u can, store the bottle upside down and it will last a little longer before going bad.

Thanks for the tip. I always get old stuff from woodcrafters. I remember I got some titebond brand of glue, it was clear something or other, and the stuff was like putty.

Don't waste your money on the spray can. I got one spray out of mine before it plugged up and quit spraying. I turned it upside down and sprayed till it cleared but it still didn't do any good.
