Title: Alder arrows
Post by: bow101 on October 16, 2013, 11:58:38 pm
I made a couple arrows from Alder, its sort of like poplar as far as weight and grain structure goes.  I have to take them down some more as they are to thick.  Does anyone else have Alder arrows or used them..?
Funny thing the tree is a weed on the west coast, yet most lumber suppliers want freakin $5.00 a board foot for the stuff........yikes.....I can get old growth fir sometimes for the same price. :o

You can send me some of that west coast salmon and your arrow scraps.  I'll smoke one with the other, while you are out smoking a deer with the arrows!  Everybody wins!

Now post pics of the arrows. YOu know the rules.

My neighbor works for a custom cabinet shop and he has gotten into shooting bows with me. He brought me over some alder to try out. Made on arrow so far it shot ok but going to make a few more to test out. Underside so far.
