Title: BBI
Post by: chessieboy on October 04, 2013, 10:30:33 am
I have a BBI I'm working on now. I want to apply carp skins when it's finished. I'm going to stain the boo after sanding the back a little. My question is will the stain affect the bond with tite bond 3?

Id suggest water based stain. Carp skins are thick and not much color comes through them. Just a thought.

If you going to cover it with carp skins, why stain it?

People seem to stain under backings to enhance colour or limit transparency. Most stains do actually weaken the bond but decorative backings don't have to be stuck on much better than permanent tape.

Pats right carp skins tend robe very thin and transparent. Adding color or applying to dark wood helps them show up better
