This bow is for a friend of mine with a very long draw. He should be getting it in the mail tomorrow. Not quite in time for opening weekend, but the best I could do. 72" ntn 58#@32". I m only drawing it to about 31" in the pic as I'm built more like a bear than an orangutan and couldn't draw it any further. WDB skins and a little character. Sorry bout the poor quality pics. Thanks for lookin! Josh

x2 That's awesome. You sure you can't crank her back another half inch? :P
-
Man, Josh, what's your buddy's forehead look like? ;) Just kidding nice looking bow for someone I obviously, wouldn't ask that with him standing in front of me. ;D
-
Great looking bow Josh! :)
-
If you let that arrow go....yer ear will beat the bow to his place,eh? 8)
-
awesome!!!love character bows!!-Hammertime
-
What was the orangutan's name in 'Anywhich Way But Loose' that 70's Clint Eastwood movie? Clyde?
That's funny as heck. Cool bow man! ;D
-
Sweeeeeeeeeeet! Nice bow dude!
-
Nicely done. Looks like it would've been a tricky stave to tiller. Lucky friend.
-
Sweet bow your friend should be smiling when he pulls it from the tube.
-
Cool lookin bow right there! Sweet full draw.
-
Crazy cool. I like how you carved in the rattles.
-
Great looking bow all around Josh and the tiller looks dead on for that tricky stave. I've tried a couple from staves with that wonky kick where the limbs come out of the handle differently and they whopped me bad. You seem to have figured out how to handle that issue. :) Well done.
-
That is an awesome bend on that character bow. You really do great work.
-
Thanks for the kind words fellas! Yeah Rich, my ear and my glasses were more than a passing concern when shooting this in. Between the long draw and being a lefty bow, my shoulders and back were killing me after i shot it in. The offset handle didn't give me near the trouble tillering as did the whoop te do midlimb on the lower limb did. I kept having to fight the urge to make it bend more to match the upper limb. The unbraced pic doesn't really show it, but there's a considerable dip below that big knot on the lower limb as well as some twist. It gave me some concern but the way it shoots, I'm confident that its pretty close. Thanks again fellas! Josh
-
That'll work for the big fella.Nice job.Surprised he did'nt want 80 to 90 pounds out of it.Have fun shooting that one out of a tree.
-
Beautiful bow Josh, very nice,he should love that. :)
Pappy
-
Wow! I really dig that. Fantastic work.
-
Don't rip one tryin' to yank that back Josh! That turned out nice man, still cant believe that dude pulls soooo far, its crazy! Gotta have some power behind it.
-
You have some serious skill Josh. You make that squirrely, snakey piece of osage bend with flipped tips like it was born to be a bow!
-
I love the way you made the tip overlays look like the rattles on the WDB skins. Very cool. Nice bow from a challenging stave. You've certainly got full draw outta that piece of wood!
-
Another example of your skill level !nicely done!
-
sweet work..makes me ashamed how you crank these out from on the road and I can't seem to find time to do one at home. very cool stuff
-
Crazy cool. I like how you carved in the rattles.
One of the first things i noticed too, i love the rattles!
-
Thanks Ed! He used to hunt with 70# , but the yrs are starting to pile up on him.
Thanks Pappy!
Thanks Tim,Carson and Bushboy!
Eric- I didn't knock this one out by any means. I bought this stave from Kerry at whitetail Osage 2 or 3 yrs ago and just fiddled with it here and there. However, one of the few advantages of staying out on the road is that my weekends are completely uninterrupted. But given the choice I would prefer getting interrupted with honey do's more often. Meaning I'd rather be home. But thank you for the kind words.
Adb, Gopher- thanks fellas! I wasn't planning on putting those tips on this bow. Actually, I wasn't planning on carving those for a bow again. That was intended to be a one-off detail for Weylin's bow last yr. He saw it in the mag and had to have em. I refused for six months but he found my week spot. A brand new .54 Rice barrel for my flintlock. So I caved or carved as it were. Lol!
Pearlie- thanks! That draw length is just ridiculous! But he's been shooting that way for yrs. The ol boy that was making his custom effing glass bows retired quite a while ago. So now I get to deal with it. At least I'm starting to get a feel for the longer draw now.
Thanks again everyone! Josh
-
Wow Josh I don't know how I didn't see this one earlier. Great job on such a tricky stave. The tips are sure cool. Not much to say that hasn't been already. Love it :)
-
Nice work! If you ever feel like you want to practice your long draw some more you can send one this way ;).
-
very nice Josh.i'll pull her to 26 for ya.lol
-
Fantastic! Perfect lines. Love the nocks.
Top notch! Good on you!
Looks like your shooting a yumi ;D :P
-
Thanks fellas! I think I'll make some stirrups to tie to the bow and use my legs to exercise the next one! Lol! Josh
-
Wow!!! Just wow!!
Cipriano

As most of you can imagine, I've been a little down in the mouth after last weekend. I was in desperate need of a lift in spirits. Well, this done it! I'm happy to report my ol buddy Badger (different Badger) took this nice muley earlier this evening with the Orangutan bow and a flint tipped river cane arrow I made to go with it. I love it when this happens! Josh

-
Thanks fellas! I'll be sure to pass on what ya'll said. I'm pretty stoked about this coming together for him.
JW- I'll try to remember to snap a few pics of the lock, stock and barrel as well as other pieces and parts.
Eddie-I don't believe I'll be looking for any more front stuffer projects to start on for awhile. Lol! I have three rifle projects started and I'm collecting parts for a pair of flinter pistols, one right hand and one left hand. Both .50 cal. I'll be amazed if I ever finish any of them!
Thanks again fellas! Josh
-
I asked badger to send me some good pics of the bow. Well...they're better than what I took anyway. Josh
