for me archery is getting in touch with the primitive hunter in all of us  lets hear what it means to you :)

Shooting bows and meeting good people.

An extension of myself. I've always loved it.

I'll just say I couldn't quit it if I tried. Shooting, bow and arrow making, the gatherings, and most of all hunting, its all enjoyable and a part of me. Can't hardly get through a day without dabbling in a least one of those pursuits for a least a few minutes if not hours. Lose track of time when engaged in it.

Its in my blood...literally! Stickbow hunting feels so "right" and pure. It makes me feel "at one" with nature.
-
It means using a bow to send arrows down range to my intended target. ;)
Sorry my response isnt very poetic.LOL

Meat.

What got me going was the challenge of making something out of wood that I could use as a sport. So much better than building furniture.

If I had to hunt to feed myself and my Family? I'd likely choose a Firearm. If I had no firearm, I'd choose the Bow and Hooks and line. I Bowhunt because I enjoy not only the Hunt but the equipment and the shooting that gets me ready to hunt. I just enjoy the Hypnotic effect an Arrow has on me and the anticipation in the Woods. It is the season and the Woods that charms me too, not just the Bow. The Bow seems to put me out there in the Woods more than if there was no Archery season. That alone is worth it to my Body and Mind. I will go until I cannot do it anymore.

A good and fair question. For me after decades of shooting deer with a muzzleloader it was'nt as exciting as it is now.The intesity is a lot higher when they come into within 5 yards of me.Plus the satisfaction that my weapon is made by me from my backyard.Target shooting...I just like to watch that arrow fly to it's target.Metting new people and exchanging ideas is gravy to the subject.

It's pretty much my life and has been for many years. It's the only hobby I have.Short of God/ Miss Joanie/Family and friends it's the top of my list of loves of my life. :) My dogs are right below that. ;) :)

I loved it as soon as I started, that hasn't been that long. Just a couple of years. There is definitely no turning back now. I had a bit of a lull last year but then I found this site. Funny how something so technological could keep you up on your primitive side. The generosity on this forum is something that I thought was lost to modern society. So glad to be a part of something that so gratifying. So if you couldn't tell archery means a lot to me. It's something that could never get old. There are too many facets.

something that I have enjoyed and have not had enough time to devote to.

Two yrs ago archery to me was: Them "Stick Flickers". Last year I made a stick bend and found this site, and now I find archery is; relaxing and filled with really talented, & nice people. Ed

its a challenge, the pursuit of perfection(perfect form, perfect anchor, perfect release, perfect follow through, perfect shot). its an outlet, something i can throw myself into and get lost. i cant tell you how many time ive gone in my back yard and just shot for hours barely aware of what im doing. its my break from the world.

It seems as though it is the hub in which my wheel of life turns. Past memory, present desires, future hopes. A gathering activity for family and friends. My dog even loves to see me walk out toward my truck bow in hand, it means we're going on a hike in the Mnts. Accept bow season then he feels a little left out. :'(
