Post by: dwardo on September 13, 2013, 07:44:07 am
Ayup all,

Spent last weekend getting eaten alive by midge mozzie and horsefly! things we do for bow wood.

My accommodation,

Tools of the trade

hard at work

Part of the haul. Probably about 5 clean wych elm near 60 years old, about 4 ash when split both about 60 years old. There was a load more but i ran out of energy after having to carry it all out of the wood by hand over several fences sytles and fields for about 2 miles. Worth it for this stuff mind. The shorter ones are around 65 which is my favourite length for most things and the others are around 70+

It's too bad the shipping costs stop most from shipping to each other accross the pond. What exactly would be the cost for a 65"L.X2"X2" stave cost to ship?
Nice haul there...Have fun.

You could DHL it for around 150 dollars.

The old guy James at osageorange.com ships staves from Iowa all over the globe... He has recently had shipments go to Iraq... Afghanistan, often ships to UK Mexico and Canada....

He just ships with the USPS as priority international mail and with those guys from the US to UK it would be about $80 per stave I think.....

Check it out... His staves are pricey though like $200 dollars for 65" - 70" Osage. Seasoned 2 years and sealed ends.
