Title: Tiller Advice
Post by: Zion on September 12, 2013, 10:10:27 pm
This one's 65" ntn, serviceberry sapling, lightly heat treated, 65#@25". 2" string follow at biggest dip, started with 1 inch of deflex at same place. I think it should bend a little more in the outer limbs, what do you guys think?

Looks fine to me. With 65" ntn, some deflex and a 25 inch draw I don't think you're in much danger with that one.  ;)

I agree wit your assessment... I'd get it bending more in outer third. Especially top limb.

I think it's fine. The outer limbs only look stiff because of the original limb shapes.

The outer limbs could come around a bit more, especially the top like adb suggested.

K thanks for the confirmation, i think i might pike it a bit since it's a little longer than is practical for me. Would doing a light toasting pose any threat at this point? haven't shot it or bent it too much yet.

No but try to do any heat treating before any set shows up.
Both outer limbs need to come round a little.
Also use set to tell you what's happening. Where it's too strained etc.

Thanks mike, the set situation seems to be fine. Ill correct the tiller and treat and he see how it goes.
