Well one of the many things I like about this place is the freedom to ask questions!! well here goes, next month the New York salmon run will be in full swing the wheather allways is wet! I don't want to camp on the ground in a tent,,,if I bring a pop - up it may not dry well enough and get moldy, I do have a 7'x4' trailer and was thinking about building a tear drop camper?? have any of you guys built a small hard sided sleeping unit before?? I can get plans on line but I know someone must have done this, I'd like to build something quick light that could double as a play house part time very plain inside. This could be any shape gypsy wagon anything , and I'd also take it hunting too well thanks lets brain pool a little JeffW

Backwoodsman magazine had an article with pictures and plans about 8 months ago. It was cheap and lite. I have a store bought one and really like it.

Im watching this Jeff. Im dying for a super simple, super light, super easy port-a-bed. I can do the rest of my duties outdoors.

My trailer is 5x8..Knowen as the moose box..We use it to pack our gear around..This is the only pic I have of it.. Just built with 3/8" plywood and 2x4's all screwed together.. We caulked the joints to keep most of the water and dust out
Thanks Leroy

I'm bad with the confuzer posting pics may be a problem? but I have been watching "Tiny yellow houses relax shacks" Derik Dederson is the guy he makes all kinds of cool shacks I did find plans for a tear drop on line but it will be more than I need. It was just 1/4" plywood and 2x2's but I think bending the ply around the roof will be a problem? boy lets keep this one going guys JeffW

I have a kayak trailer I built years back maybe time for a revamp with living quarters

Course you also could just get a Hennessey hammock and a couple tarps and keep it simple. Just an alternative.

OH Please Do!! I've stalled a little but expect to get under way soon. I'd like to see us start a small camping revolution?? I just get sick of the $$$$ things cost these days!! man can you see a P.A get together with a bunch of tear drop (homemade) campers? breaking rocks, scraping bows eating road kill!!! I know it's been done but I know we have the talent to build for just a couple hundred bucks and still be styling 8) keep it coming guys! JeffW

Il start a separate thread if you want so itl be easy to search for in the future its going to be a slow project prolly a month or two long iv already started tearing my popup to pieces :)
