I'm pretty sure I got this monster chunk of flint from knapper. I've been walking by it for months and yesterday I picked it up and knocked a few spalls off it.

Interestingly, it was hard on the hammerstone I use to do spalling these days.

I took one of the spalls and made a simple triangle point from it. It was pretty tough stuff raw, but I think this point will hunt nicely if I can get it hafted up.

Once I get another hammerstone I think I'll spall that whole thing out and heat treat it all. I need to get the points a little thinner for the cane shafts I have. Starting to get the itch to go hunting and it's less than a month off.

Good looking stone.
My local stuff does the same thing to my hammerstones. Lol! ;D

George that sure looks likee that rock i handed ya when u came by the house. anywho that should make a fine hunting point as tough as that stuff is.

Could be Paul, my memory stinks. I had 2 really large chunks - maybe Knapper gave me the other one? It is pretty tough raw, I'm hoping I can slick it up a little with heat.

Dang, I would have sworn I got it from you in Burlington. I'm losing it I guess. O well, it's a nice chunk of rock wherever I got it...

Or was it knapper? Haha. No matter as long as you get points from it :). Swing by the house for a tune up and we'll load ya up.
-
Maybe you got it from me ;D ;) Not! ;) Nice looking point, George.

LOL, would have been hard to get that baby in my luggage Eddie. I do still have a nice chunk of coral of yours though. I heat treated it once but it didn't help at all. That stuff is HARD! I think if I could get some spalls knocked off it I could heat treat smaller pieces.
Thanks Paul, I'll have to schedule something. Now that Jack is coming over every Saturday to work on a bow I don't have as much free time as I used to.

Looks like a chunk of Tower rock. ;D

Hmmm, that could be as well. Goodness knows Don brought over some nice stuff from his pickup bed most every time I've seen him. We need to do another Texas PA knapping get-together once it gets a little cooler.
