Title: Saw an interesting bow today.
Post by: Prarie Bowyer on September 05, 2013, 01:34:27 pm
Young lady had a bow that was made of layered Yew and for all intents and purposes looked like a "Traditional" fiberglass bow.  But no fiberglass.  I couldn't see it and she said they sell them as purely wood bows.  But the back was painted black and so was the belly.

Who is this maker and what is the deal here?

Bows like that were made by the famous John Schulz after he became allergic to fiberglass and resin. I saw one made of tapered yew laminations and bamboo backed. Miller was a student of his, so that's a likely possibility.
