What does he D refer to? Is it the shape of the drawn bow or across section of the limbs?

It's confusing to me also. C bow is easier to understand ??? or is it?

I think I read about a Reversed D somewhere. That would obviously be for cross section, oh, maybe if you were suicidal ;)

Yes it can.  What side of the ocean you are on can make the difference between the two.
