Is red bud any good for bows?

I've heard Redbud makes a fine bow. I been wanting to try it for a while.  Thats some smooth bark for Redbud, but I guess it could be young (as said).

Well its about 8" in diameter and all the ones around it have the same pale smooth bark.

			-
Could it be an American Basswood?

			-
				Are the leaves serrated?
Grady

looks a lot like the basewood around here except the bark is just paler. is the bark very stringy?

			-
the leaves are not serrated. Will basswood make a bow?

			-
all the basswood i have ever touched has been softer than poplar...

				Lee,
Can you get a better picture of the leaves?  I tried to enlarge the phots and it looks like there are small serrations, but I can not see them well enough to make sure.  My vote is some type of basswood, if the edges have small serrations.

The redbud in my yard has seed pods hanging on it right now. Dont know if that helps or not.

Im pretty sure redbud.  Basswood has serrations

			-
I don't think it is a redbod but its hard to tell from these pics. Can you get a pic of the tree?

			-
it might be a poplar. i have not seen one with leaves exactly like that but the bark looks dead on

			-
Sorry guys i'm out of town now. Yeah I think it mayhave small serrations

			-
It looks a lot like a poplar tree in my yard

It is basswood, very soft light wood, doubt it will make a bow...  Makes good fishing lures though...
