Title: Skinny little Osage number
Post by: Ifrit617 on August 15, 2013, 08:42:57 pm
Carved this bow up quickly the other day. Didn't measure a single thing on it, just carved till it bent and felt good. Finish is pure beeswax from a candle, which was a pain in the ass to put on and took longer than the whole bow did. Won't be doing that again. A bit of snake and a few drying checks make it complete.

Barely an inch wide at the handle it's 55" n2n and 41#@26. Dead flat after shooting, gains about .5" of reflex at rest. Absolutely zips an arrow and is real smooth and fun to shoot.

Very nice. I have a small piece, gives me ideas. BTW - started using odie's oil for all my finishes of both bows and arrows. Great product, food safe, one coat is all that is needed. All natural oil blend. Have been hunting for a solvent free alternative and very happy with the results

Thanks for the tip on the Odie's oil, never heard of it, but may give it a shot!

That is one sweeeeet bending bow there Jon, gotta be a shooter with that smooth tiller. Love seeing bows that bend

Amazing whatcha can get away with when you got a little bit of osage to play with.  Takes a little courage to go cold turkey and put down the measuring tools, only to trust your instincts and experience.  Obviously paid off in spades for you.  Great bow, Ifrit.

What's with that funny posture in the full draw shot?  You hustling something on Craigslist on the side?   ;)

Lol nope my true full draw is 30" so to shoot with any type of accuracy at 25-26" I gotta contort my body a bit... Haha

Very nice.

Don't let these guys rib you about your pose. They have been watching to much of that Naked and Afraid show and they are a little insecure and apparently much more aware of guy butts. JW has been on Craigslist since yesterday looking for your ad.   ???

I will admit, that one was clever. Sounds like this isn't the first time you've hit on a guy.  ;) hehe

Simple and sweet.  Tiller looks smack on.  Makes me want to try a bendy handle bow now.

Don't search "Bendy Handle vs. Stiff Riser" on Craig's List while in mixed company!  It could make somebody blush...

I had to pick on you because there was nothing I could find about the bow to pick on!!!  Ain't these little scrap bows getting popular again?

Lol to all the jokes. I'm just glad I'm still a young chap that doesn't blow out his back every time I bend in a funky way and look good doing it. I think your all just jealous.  >:D >:D >:D

But thanks for the compliments as well!

Yeah, if the shorty leaves you with something less than your usual full draw they are almost impossible to learn to shoot effectively.  You almost gotta grow up with a short draw bow in your hands to master them.

Whoever gets it is a lucky person, I gotta say.  She's sweet!
