I was so impressed with Beadmans snapping turle pouch that I made one for myself. Some folks call this a man purse, I'm okay with that because I know what type of man mess with snappers, The hardest part was getting the turtle evicted ;D Thanks for lookin an thanks Beadman for the great idea. Later Bob

Thats pretty cool, Bob. You are manly enough to wear it! ;)
-
Cool, Bob, that would look good in the front of you Kilt.
-
That's freaking awesome man that would go with all my hunting outfits >:D
-
nice work! I am impressed. I assume top section of leather is loose to permit hand access, right?
thanks for sharing.
-
Swamp, top is open just reach in an getta ya some turtle, ;D I thought about some kinda flap but it would hide the shell somewhat. I also had to alter the bottom shell alittle to get my fat hand inside. If I ever get ambish an do another i got lots of other ideas, they are a lot of work :(. Bob

Note to self: snapping turtle bags are hard to make even after turtle is evicted. :o Got it! ;)

Nice job outback.I like it.That'll last ya some years for sure. Was that a 20 to 25 pound turtle? They're a nice size for good sized pouches.Looking forward to seeing what kind of use or twist you can do on your next one. They are a lot of work for sure.
I've heard it said that the neck skin on them will make a very good bow string.I hav'nt tried it though.
-
Beadman, I also heard that necks make great strings but becareful where you store your string, Mice must love turtle strings :( Didn't weigh turtle but I'm guessing in the 20-25# range. Bob

Yes Sir!
Excellent Work That!
Love the Fit and Finish...
Did you have to Drill the holes through the shell for stitching?
-gus
-
Gus, Could not seem to find any other way, shell is real thick an dense on the edges, no way to push a needle thru, finsh is just a couple of coats of brushed on poly urethane inside an out. Thanks for lookin. Bob

Whew... I bet that Was Time Consuming Indeed...
Double Well Done!

Do do it more primitive like I wonder if a person could'nt heat the end tip of an ice pick and burn a hole through the shell for stitching the rawhide on.
-
I was wondering the same thing Beadman...

X3 Whew, what's that smell :o :o

Ya know I've seen so many turtle shell bowls, but that is the first time I've seen a turtle shell bag.
Intriguing, most intriguing.
And I agree that would make a great sporran.
-
I got the idea from Beadman and just tryed to copy it. What is a sporran?
-
Traditional name for the Kilt Purse/Bag
Many man have anger issues with it being called a purse. By definition a purse is a bag to hold coin.
