While looking for quartzite I spotted a large chert nodule and brought it over to Huntswithstones house where we spalled it up and got what we could out of it. I was able to make a decent preform and debated what to make if anything... looking to make a NY genesee point, things didn't go as planned... tough gnarly piece was one of my greatest challenges yet...I'm just happy to have got something out of this stone!!!

If that's what you do with a tough piece like to see what you do with a easy piece.
-

Russ, some great looking points out of some really tuff lookin materials. Hope to see ya at Letchworth.
-
Solid point Russ!
Have you tried pressure flaking with wood?
I watched a man send pressure flakes across a 4 inch wide Ryloite blade with a dog wood pressure flaker. Something to think about ;)
-
Jesse I made a wood flaker just have to practice... than Bob..I will be there..

Tough or not, you nailed that one.

Wow. The base on that one is perfect!

Thank u everyone for responding! I once gave Shannon some of this stone and he told me to not send him any more..lol but since I found it locally and the natives used it and its free I have been determined to be able to produce something from this rock...dont get me wrong the high grade stuff is killer but this stuff is par to ryholite... I will bring Bob a piece up at Letchworth..
