Title: ERC question
Post by: twilightandmist on July 26, 2013, 10:36:59 am
so i went to work on an ERC stave, and was no sooner through the sapwood than i realized i seemed not to be through the sapwood >:( i got down to the heartwood, but there's streaks of white sapwood in the purple heartwood. is this normal?

Yes, that's normal.  I assume that you are either sinew backing or hard backing this stave?  Erc heartwood is nearly worthless in tension.  Josh
