I would love that!
Easy enough to motorise it and it was obviously made when tools were tools.

Haha, true! Man, I would hate to be the guy doing the cranking on it while some guy was trying to resaw a 10" piece of rosewood or something... That's insane.

I would bet that monster cuts pretty good when you get those big heavy cast iron wheel spinning it would have quite a bit of torque. You can tell by the blade guide that it will accommodate a pretty large timber. This was made back in the days when craftsman had apprentices and I bet it wore out a bunch of them.

I love the spoke design on the front two wheels.  That would be fun to use.

Wow. I bet if you hooked up a nice heavy fly-wheel you could get some serious friggen torque.

Wouldn't a little steam engine and some leather belts be sweet next to one of those?

It is a cool saw, and plenty of people have probably used it without injury, but it looks like an accident waiting to happen. No guards around the wheels.

Quick fix though. Wouldn't be too hard to rig up some guards. Even just some Aluminum sheet bent in a metal break would do the job.
