Can anyone say "Old man and the sea". That was an awesome video. Some day I will follow the trial you are blazing. I thought it was cool to have a large mouth bass tow my little canoe around the lake when I hook a nice one - - but that video is something else entirely. Congrats on a nice catch.
I have fished Hawaii before and know what is out there. What would you do if you hook something substantially larger? Are you able to land something bigger, like a marlin? or would you have to cut bait? Are you out there alone, or were you with others?

Russ I usually like to fish solo. but there are other kayakers, jet ski and boat fisherman out on any given day and we all have radios so im never really alone.
I hope to hook a 300 pound plus marlin someday.. or a 100 pound plus tuna. when that happens i will fight it just like any other fish, just a lot longer.
I have hooked and brought up 400pound + sharks.. there big and lazy but still heck of a fight.
Thank you for liking my video bro..

Very cool...was to Hawaii once and thought then I should have grown up there, your video makes that feeling even stronger!!

So how likely is it that a fish will flip your kayak?
-
what kind of video camera setup do you use?

Got two Gopro's set up.. one in front and one behind.. Both on home made mounts.
If your drag is set right and ya know what your doing then not a big chance in flipping but still posable and i know guys that have been flipped by fish.. Or bumped so hard by sharks they have been knocked out.. And the occasional whale nudge :)
David, Me to brother..
Feel stuck on a island and with $2,000 plane tickets i sorta am.. Im making the most of it though, but i feel very disconnected from family and friends.

No lifejacket??? You are the big Kahuna!! Great vid.
-
I kept wondering how you were going to land him once you got him close to the boat. Lots of skill, you made it look easy.
-
Thanks guys :)
Roy its called " Intro" by XX i think there a rap band haha :) Abby found the song on pandora radio and i knew it would work for the video. I had to edit the audio the original song is only 2 mins so i had to lap it a few times and make it fit with the video.. That took way to long haha!
-
OK thanks. You did a fantastic job with the video and mixing in the audio. Now about that Kayak, what keeps it so stable? Is there ballast weight or a fin under it? I was truly amazed how stable it is.
-
Good catch man! I wish I could get to some deep water without paddling 12 miles. lol
-
Really enjoyed that video. I subscribed to your channel, looking forward to the next one. Roy is right, that song kicks a$$.
-
Beside being a top shelf flintknapper you area pretty good fisherman, lol. What great video. My wife watched it with me and then I showed her the two flint knife blades you knapped for me showing her just who knapped them. Thanks for posting.
-
Right on guys.
Roy. there is no ballest or fin other then my rudder. keeping it stable comes with practice, Its all about shifting my own weight to maintain the center of balance.
