been working on some target arrows.............but got a dumb question.... I'm wanting to make some broadheads for hunting. I've got some material to make some trade points. If I find that 5-6 six of these target arrows are flying real good out of my hunting bow, can I expect the same results with the same weight trade point or would it be better to try the ones that don't fly as good with the target points? I hate to mess up the target arrows.
Here are a few pictures, thanks for looking

I would say it depends on if you want to hit plastic more than meat. But, to be truthfull,
I'd try some heavier weight trade points on the crappy arrows. Sometimes all it takes is a little more weight forward to clean up an arrow's flight.

Nice looking arrows.

I think it's a good bet your trade points of same weight will shoot as well, but I like Mullet's idea and think it is a great place to to get get accustomed to the different points. Oh, those arrows look great! Ain't much simple about makin that set. dp

Good looking arrows, what Eddie said, also sometimes if you have one that don't fly right you can just rotate it 1/2 and they will do much better,I always shoot my cain both ways and put a index mark on the side I want to nock my arrow. Sometimes cock feather in sometimes out. :)

Yah, real yawners there dancin' bear. You need to splash a bunch of paint and stuff on them if you want good flight!
I make all mine that way. Boring as hell and hard to find in the leaves! Great work!

Sweet looking arrows , well crafted and simply attractive! I know what you mean about arrow flight differences between field points and broadheads and trying to choose which to haft up. Come a month before hunting season
I usually just pick my 6 best fliers and make them the hunters. Of course then I usually end up with the remainders
being sloppy target arrows. :o

Those turned out pretty nice!! ;)

Thanks guys for the replies............I think I'll try a little heavier broadheads on the crappy arrows first. I can always go back to the target arrows and match the head weight. I've got a little time before season.
Thanks again

Broadheads and target points often don't fly the same for me. I usually go with a slightly bigger feather, and often use helical fletch with broadheads.
-
In experiments with a pistol crossbow... a bent broadhead affected the bolt's flight quite a bit. Does this occur with an off-center broadhead on a normal arrow?
-
Yes.

Very nice work Bill! You gotta do a demo at Moontree this year.

Wont he be surprised when we all just show up one weekend >:D

I've been makeing and useing trade points for many years. I've never seen a problem. But I only shoot broad heads and judio's. I can't see a difference. A heavyer broad head might make the spine a little stiffer but other than that NO. If one or 2 dose fly different take the broad heads off.

nice looking arrows Bill.i'll check them out at moontree.arrows are all about tweeking.everone is different.

Thanks guys,
Steve,
Is there other ways other than length and point weight to tweak cane arrows? Do you think messing with the straightness on the ones that don't fly well will help?
Thanks

Bill, try turning the arrow cockfeather in.then shoot it again and see if that helps.you also want to get them straight as you can.i have found that some cane shafts just don't want to be tamed.
