This is my last yew stave until next year. I already know what I'm going to do with it but I'm curious and open to ideas :)
Look at that beautiful, perfectly even deflex. Gets my blood moving!

Of course! a deflexed recurve, man would that be sweet.
-
I am guessing you make a bow from it ;)

Maybe lol

That is one heck of a stave. So so nice. I almost prefer deflexed yew these days. I have two ideas:
(#1) is a classic, deflex handle (just slightly bending at full draw) with a mild recurve starting about 8 inches from the tips.
(#2), also retains the deflxed handle but starts the recurve much closer to mid limb creating an angular bow a brace and a rounder tiller at full draw (a-la a modified Egyptian profile).
hmmm I can't hardly decide. #2 is riskier, we know #1 works well with Yew, but the payoff on #2, man, the payoff could be schweeet.

Reflex/deflex recurve. Perfect for one of the sweetest, fastest designs out there.
-
I'd turn that into a stunning walking stick, or set of shelves.
-
Send it to me!!!!! And I'd make a bow,and if I didn't like it id send it back to ya :P
-
How long is it? Sure it will be sweet one way or the other.
-
Trade it for an osage stave >:D
Just kidding. I'm sure what ever you make out of it will be something great.
-
Id put it away for another 6 months and build a stinkin' osage bow with that stave I gave you!

You won't ever wanna touch another marshmallow backed pink sherbert wood again after making a sinewed osage >:D

Gabe both those options are ringing in my head the Egyptian one is a bit riskier but it sounds soooo smooth.
-
I'm gonna make one out of plum when I find just the right stave. Its a tough call, but I would give it a try. You've got the chops for it.

I think my vote goes to the more Egyptian style. It would be something to give you an extra bit of challenge, the stave looks like its not as challenging as some of the other types we've seen on here so i would think taking it to another level of difficulty would be more rewarding and since its your last yew for the year then really you would want to go out with a bang right? ;D
-
Ditto ionicmuffin....do it...do it...do it!
-
I would rather not have it go bang
-
I prefer the look's of a nice deflex/reflex, great shooters too
-
I'm in the R/D design bleachers Bryce for that one done with a half form.I've got a BL with a slight hump mid stave I'll do that to.Sweeeeeeeeet shooters for sure.

I think the bow is broken, probably into at least three pieces, and that is what we are getting to see here, one piece at a time. :embarassed:
