Here are some pics of my trip. It was gorgeous and we only had one brief early morning shower. These are pics of a suspension bridge that connects the trail to 150 mile long trail. The guy in black is my brother-in-law Paul.

Caught some crayfish and made Jumbalaya! Yummy! Thanks to the SLOB that left the old grate along the river......it was the only scrap of junk we found after 18 miles of walking. We brought the orange sack in with us and made a net with it. I found a springy bush and made the hoop and handle. I grabbed an old ash branch and made a wood needle for Paul to sew with. It worked good! We caught 20. We didnt bring tents, just 8 x 10 tarps, taht was nice and eeeeasy.
-
Hey...that place looks familiar....;) .....thanks for the props... ::) that's the last time I share one of my honey holes with you :P :-X
Thanks for sharing the pics...I haven't seen that place in years :D

Paul wanted a bobber. So I found a dried up poplar branch and made one! I sliced the end to pinch his line and stripped some bark off a twig to tie it off. He fished a few hours with it and never had an issue. I made a few walking sticks for us just before we left. The taller is mine and its beech. Pauls is silver maple. They where a real life saver on the hills.
-
That looks like a lot of work but a lot of fun. Paul sure can cook some good campfire food.
-
Very nice trip!
-
That is awesome. How do crayfish taste?
-

He sure can. We ate mostly dehydrated stuff, but it all had a twist of Paul added. He brought a mini spice kit with him. He couldnt help himself!

Looks like a great time. But, where's the fish pictures?? >:D
I love crawdads. They are like a blander shrimp. I usually spice them up Creole style.

Cool trip, Drums. Its amazing what you can accomplish with minimal supplies when you're somewhat forced to. Improvising is fun.

Very, very few skeeters Bob. Usually about 7-8 pm a few monsters would buzz around. We didn't need spray at all. It was very liberating sleeping in open air. I loved it.

As nice as that water looks Scott, we never had a hit. I floated crawlers and crayfish through that hole for hours. I tossed a Mepps #2 plain and bucktail, 2" grubs on 1/4 oz. jig heads and a few tiny crank baits. I seen a huge smally in the 20" range drift up and down the side of the hole each time I changed lures. He never swiped at it.
-
Sounds like ya don't know how to fish... ;)
-
Roy your exactly right! I just read up in a Field and Stream so I could answer Scott's question with some knowledge behind it!
-
Cool trip, Pearlie. Thankls for taking us along. ;)
-
;D ;D
I'm sure the scenery, peace and quiet, and clean air was worth the whole trip! Those are fun even without a fish!
-
Cool! Appreciate you sharing the back country with us! I really wish that you hadn't posted the jambalaya pic though. I just got really hungry all of a sudden! Seriously! That stuff looked awesome! Josh

Look me up around dinner time at next years Classic Josh. Pauly will feed ya' good!! Scott, Dave, Chris and Clint all got to eat his cooking this year. I believe it was Greek chicken and rice, all cooked over the fire.

Safe travels, good luck fishing
-
???Gotta admit, I didn't know what to expect when I opened this. Especially with pictures involved. ;D
-
This is old news par par. I just pulled them back up for Jackson to look at it. He wants some Michigan backpacking advice. If you can find green leaves in Michigan right now, your smoking too many green leaves!
-
Nice, thanks. I'll take a look through this.
