The other day while picking black raspberries with my daughter she saw a tree with those helicopter seed that I used to throw in the air and watch spin as a kid and asked me what kind of tree it was and if I could make her a bow from it. It seems I used to know the name but it has slipped my mind. Any ideas?

There are a number of trees which produce those keys (helicopter seeds.)
We need a little more info..

Maybe a maple or even an ash. Pics?

Ponderosa Pines here produce single-winged seeds from the cones that gyrate down to Earth like that.

Black locust grows those if you take a pic an post it It will be a lot easier to identify

A photo would really help. Just going off the description I would agree with maple or possibly ash.

Maple. We use to put them between our tongue and mouth top and make a loud screeching noise.
