I cut and roughed out this stave back in 2008. It was so twisted and funky in the bottom limb that I just set it back and forgot about it. The limbs came in from different angles to the handle. There was some natural setback in the handle and I didn't know how I was gonna straighten it out ( total newb and thought it had to be straight ! lol). To get to the point, here is what came out. Many, many heats sessions and some moments of scratching my head while tillering a bow finally emerged. It's going to a fella in N.Y. ( you know you are) and I hope he likes it. 50# @ 28" of quirky Arkansas Osage.

Nice looking bow Jon.

He oughta like that!!

That's one advantage of getting older...
Oh.. you mean the BOW O:)
Real nice tiller, sweet bow, not too much character, just enough to be interesting but a real work horse of a bow.

Looks like you tamed it into a good one Jon. Those staves with the limbs out of the handle differently give me fits too, I have one tillered out to a short draw that I gave up on a few months ago because it was confusing me. :o It may be several more months
before I can clear my head and give it another go. ;)

Great job Jon!

Thanks a lot fellas. I wish I had taken pics before I started working on this stave. You really can't appreciate the level of twist and roller coaster that was in the bottom limb. I will let the guy whom it's going to to take better pics of the bow cause I suck at taking pics. I am really proud of this bow but I will stick to making shorties cause that's what I like. I do have somemore stiff handle bows in the works though. I have had to lighten the draw weight on my bows because of my gimpy hand, so I don't really know what I'm progressing towards at the moment.

Tiller looks great Jon!

Looks like you solved the riddle, very nice bow!

Nice bow Jon, sometimes it's hard to split up with the ones that really gives us fits.

that full draw pic is sweet very good work there.

Nice work Jon. Great looking tiller as usual. There is a lot to be said for knowing when to set one aside and look at it again later! That turned out nice.

Looks good from my seat, very nice, someone should be happy with that. :)

Cool Jon....n that gimpy hand might force ya to make a few stiff handled bows of lighter poundage and longer than your used to for a smoother easier on the hands draw....or try a r/d molly curve like I've done...there still short, but feels like your pulling on a long elb they're so smooth

Very nice bow! Jawge

Always a good feeling when that stave from the corner of the garage finally comes alive! Looks like a shooter! Nice work.

Sounds like you had to earn that full draw! Nicely done Sir! Josh

Again, Thanks a lot guys. I had really became quite good with a two finger draw and then this big ol' Osage monster came and showed me how far you fingers can be bent backwards and dislocate without being completely broken off. :o I have made me some longer bendys and some stiff handled bows around 37-50# that I can shoot without a lot of pain. Maybe I'll post 'em up later. Chris I may take a better look at them goofy bows you were making. ;) I understand the design and principle but the "cool factor" for me wasn't there. Not dissin' your bows just see if you can come up with something that says "maybe an Indian made that" if that makes any sense to you. Not a bow per se but a design. :-\

Nice job Jon. Sorry to hear your hand is still bothering you. That one looks like you whipped it for sure. Very well done. Danny

I am the lucky northerner who received this real nice piece of southern osage. At first glance, the handle fade area is kinda quirky, but the string tracks the handle just fine, and she shoots hard and straight. I should have taken pics of my new target (raccoon paper) as proof, but this bow puts em right where I'm lookin. Thanks Jon. I hope you like the arrows as much as I like this bow. Russ
