Talk about crazy close especially that many with meat in their teeth
-
Very cool ;D

I'd have had a great time watching the sow and cubs, but somewhere in the back of my mind I would have been thinking about how bloody high I could climb in my tree in case she took offense to my presence.
-
JW, that sow showed up 5 min after the guide dropped me off and they were still there seven hours later when he came to pick me up, they never left. The bait was less than 10 yds. in front of me, she knew I was there the whole time and even curled up in a ball with all three cubs and took a nap a few yds. from my tree. Three times she sent the cubs up a tree when boar's came to the bait and she ran all of them off, even though they were all bigger than her. once when she was facing off with a 7 foot boar she scurried up the tree herself and the boar ran off a little ways, I was wondering what happened, and looking around I caught a glimpse of a wolverine loping through the brush, he did not come to the bait and after he passed the boar came back in and I thought I was going to get a shot at him but she came flying down the tree and ran him off.

that is awesome Kevin.i am glad you guys had a great trip.
-
Steve, it really was an awesome trip, when we were on the way home, we were probably only on the road about twenty minutes and we were talking about going back again in two years.

Cool pics..It really passes the time watching bears..They are the most agile critters..Nothing like a beaver carcass to bring'em..Don't matter where you put it they'll get it..Don't blame you for wanting to go back..Did that for 12 years every spring..Ton of fun..
Thanks Leroy

Cute bears! I like bears, but they do taste good ;) (Ive actually never tasted it but know people who have)
-
What were you using as bait?
-
Those are really good pictures. I can see you had great time.
-
Billy,
The 55 gallon drums are filled with cake frosting and the bait hanging in the trees are rancid beaver carcass's, the outfitter also pours 5 gallon jugs of used cooking grease on the trees and ground. The bears like it all but they really love the rancid beavers!

Wow, Kevin, look's like you had a real exciting time. That has been on my "to do" list for way to long.
-
Eddie,
You can't go wrong with Big Bear Outfitters!
