Title: Leather score at a Garage Sale
Post by: Ed Brooks on May 20, 2013, 01:52:49 pm
My wife calls me up Friday while I was at work, to see if I want some leather . She was at a garage sale, the gal used to be a seamstress. She has some Leather, the wife picked me up a cow worth of leather 1 piece for $5.  However it is burgundy, (red) I think it will still be good for handle wraps(on some wood).
My question. How hard is it to dye say black?
I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong place.

You want to dye the red to black?  Should be little problem.  Get some leather dye and an applicator and go to it. dp

$5 is a heck of a deal.  Congrats!

Good stuff,  8)  I'm always on the look out at Thrift shops and garage sales for leather. All I end up with is belts. But I'm picky now, I will only buy top grade leather belts. I use them for various projects like making stringers, arrow rests...bigger stuff for tabs.

check out upholstery shops, I got 2 big garbage bags full for free, was getting a head liner redone and asked him how much for the scrap leather, he said take it, and come back any time for more, and he's using good leather from Scottland, they don't use barb wire so no scars
