A jake and a half? You got me. His fan is mostly full? His beard will stretch to 6 7/8"? He weighs in the 20# range? His spurs are 1/4" bumps? He ran off a full fanned 2 yr old from his hens. I seen a decent beard dangling and a decent sized bird. So I shot him at 60 paces, gotta appreciate those ol' boom sticks! I didnt know what to think once I got to him and checked him out, never seen a tweener in the spring.

I call it tasty dark meat and feathers for arras pal...congrats buddy ;)
-
Congrats, Chris..
-
If he acts like a tom, struts like a tom, displays like a tom, shoot him! ;)
-
Call him "arrow material"
-
Hey Drums! If you have a turkey fryer, bring him to Marshall and cook him up!
-
I'd call it dinner! Congrats pearlie! Josh
-
Lol Doc, I was gonna Say it looks like dinner with a side of fletching

Looks like one of those sissy Michigan birds I've heard about ;D
-
I have heard of gobblers without spurs, but have never seen one. Those nubbies are sure a classic looking Jake set, but that beard tells another tale.
-
I'd call him a 1 year old and a few months bird. The first bird I killed was a 3 year old with a 10 1/2" beard with no spurs, not even bumps. The next week I shot his brother with one spur, 1 1/4".
-
through him in the smoker Chris, heck our season is already over, my daughter-in-laws brother got one this year with 4 beards, freaky looker,
-
i would have shot him too Chris.good job bro.
-
Congrads on the nice bird .....Chris

That's a bird with an attitude! No spurs to fight with and runs off another Tom? His #1 primaries look to be good size.
-
Legal and bagged! Nice harvest!

This season, I was doing some bush hogging on the farm when I bumped a hen off her nest. I stopped the tractor to watch her cross in front of me at maybe 15 yards. She had an 8 beard. I stopped mowing and set up my ground blind. I hunted her the next morning to no avail. Season ended and finished my bush hogging task. I found 10 hatched eggs in her nest. Hopefully, we meet again this fall.

Two thumbs up Chris !

Congrats PD.....Mother nature has it's ways.Does with spike horns etc.It is'nt always the buck with the biggest rack that's dominant.Suppose it's that way with turkeys too.
-
Thanks for the comments guys. Ive shot alot of birds, called in alot of birds for others and just never seen a turkey caught in between jake and tom. They either had a 3-4" beard or a 8-10" beard. If we are lucky Ill have it jerky'ed before I leave for Marshall, Im thinking teryaki or bbq.

Nice Tom,probably very early hatch from last year . ;) :) I see that quite a bit. :)

Nice work bud...yup seeing more and more like that, not many toms get to be "old" around here!
-
Way to go, Chris! Didn't have any luck this year myself. Glad you had the chance to get out!
