Title: Sneaky Ol' Outlaw
Post by: hedgeapple on May 14, 2013, 01:29:36 am
Well, you can't trust a guy with "outlaw" in his name, so I'm learning.  Osage Outlaw came to my little gathering in KY.  While here, he put on a demonstration on how to apply snake skins to a bow.  The bow was sexy little osage number that looked even hotter with a rat snake skin running down her curvy limbs.

At the Classic, Clint brought the bow to me saying he'd finished it and wanted my opinion.  She look great.  I asked could I draw her back, knowing that Clint and I, both have a 26" draw.  Man did she feel smooth in my hands.  He told me it was the bow he built for 2013 trade and the recipient was going to be here.  What a lucky guy.  I noticed there was a piece of electrical tape covering the recipient's name.  Clint said I could take a peek of who was getting the bow it I promised not to tell them.  I took a look.  IT WAS ME!!!

So a word of advice, If you're dealing with an Outlaw, expect to horn swaggled.

How does it shoot you ask?  Well let me tell you.  I only shot 20 stations of the course at the Classic.  I used my new Osage Outlaw bow.  Well, I shot a higher score with this bow in 20 stations than I did 2 years ago shooting all 40 stations.

Let jump to the money shot shall we.

IMHO, rat snakes skins are the pretties skins you can put on an osage bow.  The yellow in those skins really POP on osage.

One more of her tips.

Thanks so much Clint, even if you are a "sneaky Ol' outlaw, I'm very happy with the bow and to call you friend.

Huh..... What a coincidence Dave.  >:D he might of quietly mentioned it at the Moontree gathering 8) when you were killing the target at 100 yds :o
real fine bow Clint! I really like the black rat skins on Osage without anything underneath. It looks more like Fox snake.

Congratulations Dave!  Here's your reaction when you pulled the tape off and read your name.  Clint is almost as good at being sneaky as he is at making bows!  Josh

Thanks everyone.  Especially Calendargirl, who's graceful hand drew my name from the hat for Clint to build me this bow.

Blackhawk, you're correct it does look better in person.

Glad you like it Dave.  I think everybody at your gathering knew it was your bow except you.  I hope it serves you well.  Its much more fun to hand deliver a trade bow than to mail it.  I was really glad to get your name in the swap.

The tip overlays are from a very old set of cow horns that used to hang in my grandfathers work shop.
