Title: An Osage pyramid for my granddaughter
Post by: ssgtchad on May 11, 2013, 07:43:42 pm
My grand daughter is about to turn 2 and I thought I'd make her her first bow. This is a sneak peek, so its not quit finished.  Still needs some little girly type decoration and a handle. The tiller all done and its shot a couple dozens arrows. Its made from a peice of scrap left over from a split. Its 36" pulling about10 to 12 lbs at 10 or so inches. I decided on a pyramid style for easy construction and an arrow rest to make it Ki Ki friendly. It probably to stout for her but she will grow into it.  Let me know how it looks good or bad.  Thanks for your time

Any bow you put in a kids hand for the first time is a good bow. :)   That one looks real good to me, those little ones are hard to make in my experience, you did well. Be sure to have her pose for a pic. with it when your done. :)

She will love it, especially when she gets to shoot with her grandpa!  Can not agree more on the "girly type decoration".   Go overboard (in your opinion) and she'll love it   :D

Great job!

Good looking bow, but you better get started on another. They outgrow them fast.

Just beautifull, well done. My experience with granddaughter sporting goods is to go with pink and purple, and over the top.  8)  I think it goes something like Papa, Papa, Papa,....

Since the bow will be pink I thought about using rite dye. Does anyone have any experences or tips? It sems to me that dying would be more durable than paint.

I used oxblood color leather dye on my arrows...sounded cool. They turned out pink. Not sure how it will be on osage though.
