Nice looking bow. Snow all gone too lol.
-
Real nice job.!
-
You got the touch Ryan, that's for sure.
-
Nice job Ryan. Can you do the same with a Boo backed Osage? Would you be able toheat bend the tips or would you have to glue it in.
Buck
-
Good looking bow Ryan,Look's like it's time to fire that lawn mower up.
-
A nice bow for your first bow ;D
Looks like a perfect tiller on the pics.
-
Another mighty fine lookin' weapon, Ryan.
-
I absolutely love it!!! I'm always hoping to make one like that, but they never look as graceful as yours. BTW, congrats to you and Pat. I never been lucky enough to kill a deer with a nice snow on the ground. I bet it would make tracking easy.
-
Right on the money as is to be expected outa your workshop :).
-
Thanks Guys. ;D
Key,Thanks. ya, its about 45 degrees and rain now....lol.
wytetale, yes I suppose you could. I would heat bend the core before glue up.
Eddie, Its time to fire up the the tractor and put it away for the year. I don't mow after theres been snow on the ground, especially with gas at over three dollars a gallon. :P I'm thinking of buying some goats....lol. ;)
Shannon, Thanks buddy. I think your to modest, your bows are awesome. The snow would be nice for tracking but I didnt need it for this one, he only went about thirty yards from where I shot him.
-
Awesome bow! Jawge
-
Beautiful bow Ryan..
-
Very nice bow Brian. 8) Don't take it down any. :o It is perfect for me as it is! ;D Pat
-
Nice job Ryan, I like the way you get them bending right out of the fades then kept the bend nice and even. Steve
-
Great looking bow.I hope to build a recurved bow one day.But right now I'm taking baby steps in the learning process.tradrick
-
Nice job Ryan, glad to see ya back at it,it inspires me.
Pappy
-
Man those recurves you build sure have sexy curves ;D
-
Nice little recurve there Ryan
-
Really nice bow Ryan!
Alan
-
Thanks everybody! Recurves really arent that hard once you figure out how to line up the tips. A heat gun, a vise, and some patience is all you need. ;)
-
You know I meant Ryan. ;D Pat
-
Really nice bow Ryan as I've come to expect from you. Both you and Shannon have really got the knack for the recurves...so far they have eluded me.
Hopefully the one I have roughed in is lined up okay. :)
-
Nice bow, I like the deep handle. How wide and deep is the point at the arrow pass?
-
Thanks Greg. I some times have to heat and adjust the tips on a bow like this 4 or 5 times to get them were I want them.
Lennie, Thanks.I dont have a tape measure handy but roughly I would say 7/8" wide at the shelf and about 2" thick. This bow is completley center shot.
-
I did some more grip shaping, and glued some double layer tip overlays on it last night. Whitetail antler and hoof. Never tried hoof before, we will see how it works. ;D
-
Here's some pictures of how the tips turned out.

Here's a picture of the handle before I add a leather grip, what do you think black or brown?

Very nice job Ryan. :)
Pappy
-
Looking really sweet ryano, whats the backing? It sure is pretty.
-
Thanks guys.
Dana no backing. Just another dye job.
-
Hey, Ryan
How'd you flip the tips? Dry heat, moist heat?
-
Hey Ryano.... still walking the walk I see.. ;D
I sure like the way you cut the center shot so fine and make up for the thinness with handle thickness.. ::)
you're stain jobs are to be enjoyed..... and they are...
the recurved tips seem out a touch,, good tillering solved that problem well it seems.
another daring manuver....
good show man! 8)
-
Looks like it is coming along real nice. Your dye job and tips look super sweet. I really wish I could get in the shop and make a bow but right now it is full of GTO parts and panels, gotta get that car painted!
-
That is cool, Wish I had a back yard. I have an alley but I don't think the police would like me doing that.
-
adb, This one was done with a heatgun.
tpoof, sometimes straight unstrung isn't necessarily straight braced or at full draw.....If a limb has a tendency to twist one way some times you need to over correct it a bit.
-
Looks really nice Ryan, great job on the tips! ;)
-
Firestick season starts today in NY,let the whittlin begin.
Awsome little bow Ryan.

-
I am surely Impressed.
-
Absolutely Stunning!!! I never seen one of your bows I didn't like, but this one has got to be one of, if not my favorites. ;D
-
Thanks again guys. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out to. Im planning on using this bow for my bear hunting trip next month. My brother and I are headed to WV to hunt bears with hounds! I cant wait it should be a blast. Its going to be so nice to hunt something you dont have to worry about getting smelled by for once....lol.
-
Thought you did another cherry bark backing, cool stain job.
-
Very nice Ryan. Looks like you got those curves working just a bit. I need to try one with working recurves. That baby is dead flat unbraced. 8) Another beauty! Pat
ps. good luck on your bear hunt!
-
very very nice. how much reflex did you put in it when in form? that is just awesome dude :o
-
excellent as usual ryan
-
Looks like it was made by someone who knows how to make great bow. Got you bookmarked for Nov Self Bow of the Month, too. :)
-
Thanks guys.
Pat, It actualy holds a bit of reflex even with out the recurved tips.
a Finish native, its a pretty radical form. I've posted pictures of it on here before. I dont know exactly how much it started with. The tips probally rested a good 6" in front of the grip I would guess....
-
I got out to shoot the bow some yesterday. She shoots like a dream, kinda like one I did last year that I sent off to a new owner. This ones going to stay with me.....lol.
-
Its getting close to my Bear hunt, and Im getting excited. ;D Any of you guys ever shoot a Bear up a tree with your bow? ??? I'm thinking it might be dificult to get a good shot angle, especialy if the bear go's up a really tall tree. Were probally going to carry a gun with us just in case....... :-\
-
Stunning bow as usual Ryan!
Alan
-
what a greta bend in this little piece of wood! you're certainly recurve hero!
frank
-
Beautiful work Ryan! ;)
-
Thanks Guys. No archery Bear hunters here? ???
-
Good luck on the Bear Ryan,I would love to do that some day. :)
Pappy
-
Really nice looking bow Ryan. Very nice tiller but I see that top limb twisting a bit though, not unusual on recurves
-
Inspiring work!!! Good job.
Wells
-
Thanks Pappy.
Marc, thats interesting where do you see it twisting? in the full draw or braced? I often leave the tips off to one side unbraced but they line pretty well when braced....
Thanks Wulamoc.
-
In the full draw Ryan. It's just a touch of twist and probably doesn't show at brace
-
Ryan,
That's a real thing of beauty. I'm always inspired and educated by your bows.
-Tom
-
Ya Marc. The stave had a little propeller twist to start with.
Thanks Tom.
-
excellent bow.
-
Ryan, Your Full Draw with this fine little bow is also now on my TBD pages, Page 15.
-
Cool Bernie. I'll have to check it out! ;D
