I noticed in the pics several of yous have Tattoos. I Think it would be kinda cool to have a thread showing them. I searched didn't see such a thread. So here goes mine
Chest-Shamrocks with my kids initials, right arm -skull cherries(long story),right leg-Tribal shield, right arm- tribal dragon. My right arm is my random arm, when finished it will have several random tatts tied in together forming a random half sleeve.

For me to post all my tats, I'd have to stand with a jock strap on for the pic or it would take 10 posts. Don't think you want to see that much of me. :o ;) dpg

I too like tattoos. I have quite a few and would have to get down to my skivvies to show them off. Most all of mine are historic in nature and go with the reenacting I do... over half of them were also applied "the old way."
Tattoos have been a bit of a historical interest in general for me and I have lectured numerous places on tattoos in the fur trade (on Indians, Voyageurs, and Fur Traders), even lecturing at the WI State Historical Society Museum. A more recent slideshow of my lecture can be found here... http://frenchinwisconsin.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Marks-of-His-Profession2013pdf.pdf
and notes to go with the slides (for those wanting to read historical accounts of some of this stuff) can be found here (halfway down page... http://frenchinwisconsin.com/researchprojects/

Dang, Isaac! That's some pretty good reference material right there! I am going to bookmark that info for future use, being into the documentable historical re-enacting stuff and whatnot! Very scholarly.

Thanks. I have a bunch of stuff on the research page where the notes are as well as a bunch of decent stuff in my blogs that I am rather proud of. Lately I have been also writing for the Journal of the Early Americas which is a pretty cool magazine focused on the stuff we like. I have an article (scholarly type) in the upcoming issue on stone pipe usage by French-Canadians.

I wish a tattoo artist would go to the Classic. I'd love to get some ink done in the bow shop.

I gotta let my buddy Mikey know that. I suppose he'd need to get to know the Tennessee laws on tatting, etc.
You'd like him, he's nuttier than a squirrel turd. Funnier, too. Just don't make any negative comments about the American flag around him, makes those Iraqi grenade scars on his back itchy and he feels like using his Marine Corp skills on somebody.

Here are mine, ;)
Yours looks just like mine Rick! Who did it? >:D
Osage, how about "primitive style" tats in the bow area?
Tracy
-
I would be all for that Tracy. Maybe make some osage needles or use some flakes from the pit.
-
I think you guys need to have the tattoos done at the Spirit Station when they have all the colors handy >:D
-
I would in for that as well. I have always wanted a tattoo tapped in the primitive way

Real nice, Clintster:)

I see you are getting bored in your retirement Ol' Roy. My other arm is where the names go.

I hate tatoos! Never seen a more rediculious way to ruin your body......and on women.... :-\ Take a beautiful woman and make her look like a street walker!! Can't wait for this tattoo fascination to whither away! Enjoy them when you get older people!

I was just waiting for this. To some extant I agree but I'd be interested to see some primitive tattoos.
-
Heck Clint is already pushing 50:)
-
I sure feel like it Roy. Working nights makes an old man out of you quick.
VMB, I see nothing wrong with tattoos. I got my first one in my early 20's. Growing up in a very strict religious family I guess it was my way of rebelling. My parents still hate them. I seem to get the itch to get a new one every couple of years. Its about that time now. All of mine are easily covered with a T-shirt so as I get older than dirt like Roy, it will be easy to cover them if I want. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion :)
-
I was raised a JW it doesn't get much more strict than that.....my rebellion was to become a non-believer...more of a choice through questioning things. Anyway, it is personal preference.....I have seen some VERY eye catching tatoos, BUT I would rather have seen them on a canvas than a body. I can see a beautiful woman, and see what I call the tramp stamp, that ends it for me....and I kinda like tramps!

Anyone that starts a religion based on my initials is in serious trouble. Wow!

I have one tatoo that I got when I was sixteen. I never thought about it much after the novelty wore off. Now.....I find my self in the uncomfortable and hypocritical position of trying to explain to my fourteen year old daughter that she shouldn't get a tatoo because she will undoubtedly regret it down the line for various reasons. Ironically, as I explained it to her, I heard my dad's voice in the back of my head ,giving me the same advice 25 yrs ago. I hope she listened better than I did. I hate to say this, but a dude getting tatted up is one thing. I have no problem with that. My little girls getting tatted up is a whole different story. Old fashioned, yep. Unfair, probably. Am I gonna change my position on girls with ink, absolutely not. Tatoos on girls to me are a lot like a late sixties muscle car with key scratches all down the sides. No offense intended to anyone. That's just the way I see it. Josh

My latest was done with a gar fish jaw. Those teeth are fairly sharp ;)

VMB, If you have such a hatred for tattoos why even bother posting here? As for this tattoo fascination whithering away, Tattoos have been around since primitive man. I kinda doubt you will be around to see it wither! So to sum it up, you keep reading post about things you hate, and I will continue to gets tatts when I choose. Then we can both be as happy as a speckled puppy with two peckers.

I work with a guy with a lower back tattoo. Its two stars. We tease him pretty hard about it. I have suggested getting a rainbow connecting the stars with a unicorn jumping over it.

Yes, apparently we see things different. People with tatoos in my mind are begging to be different.......so be it. Just wanted to give a opinion from the other side of the fence....not everyone thinks they are cool, I think I have made that clear........so go tat yourself up.

I wanted a tattoo for years before I found the right artist, I have always felt the lion to be my totem animal and have been up close to them in the wild, I felt this was a good tattoo “to watch my back” some folks don’t like em I know but there is simply no denying that humans have marked themselves in ritualistic ways like this for millennia – Otzi was inked. I also carved a copy and it now watches over my cottage.
