I just posted a how to video on youtube detailing how I fletch primitive arrows with sinew wrapping. I am sure there are many other ways it could be done, but comments are certainly welcome. Any feedback on how I can improve my how-to videos would be appreciated too. It is 25 mins long...get out the popcorn! :o

Great video. I'll have to refer back to that for my next set.
Thank you

Nice job Carson!

Thanks Don and Mark!

Very informative, Carson. Thanks!!
Also I thought the video was well done as far as clarity, sound, etc.

Awesome video. Something I will keep in my bookmarks. My only feedback on the video, and this comes from a public speaking standpoint, is the over use of the word "uh" at the start of the video. About one third of the way through you stop saying it, but just a few too many times in the beginning. Hope this helps and have a wonderful day.

Love to video thank you it helped out a lot

Thanks guys. I am glad it was useful. there are lots of things I will do differently on the next how to video. Paul, my 11 year old daughter pointed that out too. Funny how often I say that without realizing it. Gonna be a hard habit to uh, er break. ::)

It really it. I always used "Um" until when speaking one time someone came to me and showed where he counted me saying "Um" over 150 times in a 10 min speech. I had to work very hard to get out of the habit. Hope it helped.

Just got through watching. I'm ready to go out to my shop and start fletching all those shafts I have! Thanks for your help. ;)
-
Great vid Carson!
What did you use to color your shafts with ?
Thanks,
Greg

I like it. That's how I fletch my arrows too but I usually use artifical sinew. :)
Video presentation seemed allright, fletching is a long process so it make sense for it to take awhile.
One thing that might make it more viewer friend is if you post the times of various land marks of the fletching phases in the description so if they want to check a certain part, they don't have to scour the whole vid to find it. Example: "Painting on Hide glue @ 19:20"

Thanks guys. Greg, that is a vinegar sttel wool stain that you can make at home. Simply place your old steel wool pads in a jar of white vinegar and wait a couple weeks. This particular batch has had rusty bits of steel added too and it came out really dark.
Thanks Christian Soldier. That is a an excellent idea. I will do that.

Hey my only question is how did you cut/ get the feathers ready to be put on mine never seem to have a thick base or they have an excessivly thick bace
-
Niltsiar, I use the peeling method, rather than the split and sand method. It leaves a thin base which is great for the sinew wrapping method.

Great job Carson. Thanks for taking the time to make a video. those arrows turned out nice!

Thanks stickman!

Great vid my friend. Do you have plans to show how you attach stone or bone points? I'd love to see that process too. Also, a quick vid on how you prep the fletchings would be helpful. It's a lot of work to split and sand. Thanks Carson!
-
Watched this 3 times. Could you do another on how you split the feather?
-
Thanks Dan and Bryce. I recorded some video of hafting points, just need to slap it together and get posted to youtube. I haven't done a video on the feather peeling, but with the request...I guess I have to! Will let you know when they are up and running. Carson

Thanks bud

Yep thx Carson. Got about 200 shoots to fletch! Hey maybe a party...I bring the shoots, Bryce brings the feathers and you bring the magic!

This should be a sticky*

Here is the video on hafting stone points Dan. I will work on getting one put together that covers the feather peeling.
