I may be pushing the envelope a bit, but here she is.
I got the idea for this bow after seeing some of James Parkers' take-downs at last years classic. Then, I was shooting the course with the "Mississippi bunch", (Bud, Dave, Clay and Malcolm) and we were talking about all building one and bringing it to this years classic. Yours better be done Dave! ;)
Anyway, I got it done last week. 11.5" Purpleheart and Ipe riser, same on tips and base of the limbs, which are...you guessed it....osage. 64" ntn, 50#@27". The finish leaves something to be desired, but this bow is a great performer! No handshock, no noise and FAST and smooth.
I know that this type of bow isn't everyone's cup of tea but I figure I had to attempt one of these at some point, so I thought..............what the heck! Thanks for looking
Cody
P.S. Would you guys consider this a self bow? ???

Wish I could get glue lines that clean. Inspiring craftsmanship on a challenging design.
-
self bow or not, that certainly shows some true craftsmanship. My hats off to you young man

Another beauty ,Cody. The Indian head penny really sets it off. Funny thing is ,I just inlaid a coin for a strike plate, and have been thinking for about a month or two that some old coins could really work into the style of a bow.My buddy said it made him think of the old Bear bows with the medalion in them. Great job!
-
She's no less a selfbow than my take-down sleeve osage bow. That bow is really something.
-
Awesome! Call it a self bow, call it something else. I'll call it awesome.
-
Thank you all for the comments. I'll bring it to TN. Won't have a problem with Matt shooting it, what does he have like a 23" draw? ;D ;) Just kidding.............maybe
-
You got talent! By the time your 15 you will be a master!

That bow is super nice. I bet it shoots very well. I would say that it is a self bow in that the limbs are not laminated. Beautiful job Cody. You got skills man. Danny

You can categorize it how ever you want but all I can say is that you are a true craftsman. There a few of us about one hour south of you and i think we should get together to drool over this one!

I want to be you when I grow up!!!!!!!!!
Russ

Wow! Some people just want to finish a bow, and some people want to FINISH a bow!! You, sir, made this guy take a second look. Stunning work and an inspiration to many of us. Not sure I'd ever get the bug to build one, but that is shore fun to look at (bet it's fun to shoot too!)
See ya at the classic!

I've made a few 3 pc bows to give away, it is actually a good way to get guys to transition to wood bows

A " self bow" is defined as a bow made from ONE piece of wood with no performance enhancing materials attached to the back
-
Very nice Cody as usual. 8) 8)

so your saying that a 2 pc t/d bow is NOT a self bow, best be checking bom
