This was the bow I made from scratch down at Daves(hedgeapple) get together down in good ole Kentucky(hence the name) ;) Its just a simple standard American osage flatbow with flipped tips...64 1/2" ntn....47@28"...21 ounces mass weight....jicarillo tip overlays....stitched leather handle grip....a good ole classic shooter ;)

for kicks n giggles ill show a pic of what it looked like on my down to Daves...its the stave in the middle with the bark off and dark n black discolored sapwood with a branch sticking out of it...that branch is center of my handle, and I snaked around it to give it that almost centershot profile ;) 8)

Nice looking bow Chris, bet it shoots sweet with those Blackhawk patented thin tips. Like the unbraced profile too.
-
Sweet! I really like the simple flatbows. I dig that unstrung profile too.
...and I just happen to have a few empty spots on my bow rack... just sayin' :)
-
Nice bow Blackhawk. It's hard to beat osage in that design. God Bless
-
Great bow Chris, Been wondering what the finished product looked like. Very nice I really like your tips.

Man, the title made me think this was going to be something to do with bourbon 8) . Very nice bow Chris! I liked the looks of the overlays when you had them clamped up Saturday. Should have some real good mojo ;)

My kind of hunter!!!!
Nice Hawkman.............

Nice job on that one Chris. I didn't think you remembered how to make a standard flatbow
-
Very cool bow, Chris. Nothing wrong with a simple American flatbow.
-
Thats as straight an unbraced profile I've seen from you in a while! I like it! ;D
-
Nice Hawkster. I like the simplicity of its looks. The profile looks fast.

Baby girls doing great Marty...she's a night owl that's for sure...n prob has grown a lot since u last saw her...shell be a running a round Marshall n well be chasing her...lol
-
Another sweet one, BH. I sure would like to have seen the learning curve you went through finding out that magic thickness on those tips. Did you keep taking some off till one day...POP!?!...then say oops too much?
-
Nice looking bow there hawk! Can I shoot it?????
Can I touch it?
-
Thanks Kenny...I've only had one snap its tips off because it was way to narrow(lost lateral stability)and not because of thickness issues, and that was early on in my tip reduction experimentation...I could brace n half draw the bow but could clearly see if I drew more it was going to snap... so I did a video of me yanking on it for fun knowing full well what was gonna happen...sure enough...boom she went..lol
Yes Greg you can touch my wood ::)
-
very nice. Still my favorite style no matter who makes it, but you make em well. Danny
-
Sweet Balckhawk.....never get tired of looking at your work.
-
Nice work! Curious, how do you make the raised ridges around the top and bottom of the leather grip?
-
Nice bow, classic 8)
-
Good looking bow, and I agree about that style being a favorite. Just so smooth and easy to shoot. My plan A tradebow looks much the same, unfortunately just a bit too light on weight.
-
Thanks everybody
Bkhoffer...I just cut my leather a half inch longer than I want and just make a quarter inch fold n tack it down lightly with super glue, then go ahead and punch the holes and stitch her up...that's how I do it anyways...some other do it differently
-
Told you my draw length was 26" and nothing over 45 lbs. Come on now, get it right! >:D
-
Great looking bow Chris. It was a joy watching you pull it out of the van and turn it into a bow. I learned a lot of little Blackhawk tricks watching you make this one. We still should have put up the lights Saturday night and shot it. I can't believe we were all too tired to shoot a brand spankin' new bow. I guess that's a testiment to how much fun we had that weekend. ;D
-
Its 43@26" Charlie ;) ....get it right ...lol
Thanks Dave....there's always next year n next years bow ;) unless we have to much fun again ;)
-
Very sweet Chris ;D
-
Great looking bow there Blackcaulk! I'm loving those skinny tips, almost not even there. See you in a month!
