Title: Epoxy as a bow backing?

I had read in one of my magazines a while back about some guy who used eppoxy as a bow backing, he said " it makes a great bow backing because it bonds the early and late growth rings together". I know this is very untraditional and must begin to cross that ominous line into the dreaded region that the Fiberglass bow dominates. Does this report hold merit, he spoke of using some form of role out eppoxy that is used on fishing poles.  Ty

 I think TB3 works better.I've had and seen faluires with 2ton epoxy.The smooth-ons and Urac work great also.

I don't think a coat of epoxy would protect the bow any more than any finish. Tite-Bond glue with silk, linen or even brown paper would be stronger than just epoxy.   Pat

 It would need to penetrate the wood to do that. It might be useful on a board stave since that could potentially take it in through the porous lines. It would be more of a reinforcing of the wood fibers rather than taking on the role entirely by itself.
 The Epoxy used for coating fishing poles likely has more elastic properties due to the severe bending a rod undergoes.
