At least thats what I used to think. This is my very first pine bow that stayed together long enough to finish. Yew is gorgeous wood after a seal job. I dipped this bow in urethane. The bow is 65" ntn, maybe 1 1/8" wide with a crowned belly. It pulls 45-48# @ 27". The tips are water buffalo and the back is rawhide. I had a "situation" arise after 15-20 shots. The knot near the handle in the picture didnt want to stay put. It peeled up a dime sized area. I glued it down with loctite. I sized the back with TBIII and let dry over night. The next day I put more TBIII down and then rawhide. I left the probelm area over wrapped a bit for extra coverage, you can see that in the pics. So far so good. The tiller on this bow isnt my favorite by any means, but it shoots quite nice. I shot it 50 times then sealed it and finished it. Today I shot it another 25 times.........cross your fingers boys..........IT AINT OSAGE! >:D >:D >:D >:D
Gotta thank my man Brycey boy for the stick of yew, my man Stringman for the rawhide and my man Chickenhawk for the horn.

Yew nailed it Pearly ! Nicely done - Bob.

Nice bow, do you use spary on poly exclusively on your bows? Love the finnish nice and shiny >:D
-
Is it just me or is it bending a bit too much 6 - 8 inches above the handle? Is that where the knot is?
-
Nice job Chris, now on to Black Walnut. :)
Pappy
-
that is a beautiful bow, well done :)
-
You have made a beauty Chris.
Yew wood is one of the prettiest woods for sure - and it is getting prettier with every month
-

Exactly Mike. The unbraced profile doesnt show it well. It looks like a "step up" right off the upper fade. I still think I could have let it bend just a bit more.

No spray. I have a 4" PVC tube full of Helmsman. I use it only for backed bows, skins, rawhide or sinew. I feel it penetrates and seals all edges the best. Any other bows get Tung Oil or Tru Oil usually.

Thanks for ALL the comments guys, I appreciate it very much.

Send me another stick and we can test that theory Keenan!

"a" stick. man i think he means an ancient 200 year old piece of venerated wood that is much more scarce than osage and that is older than he is lol AND to think that 4 of those old "sticks" whooped his butt lol ::) ;D :D ;) :P >:D
