This is the 4th bow that I have built from this white oak tree. It is 64" tip to tip, pulls 48lbs at 27". It shoots pretty sweet. Nothing fancy at all. Pin nocks, toasted lightly with the heat gun, flipped the tips, sisal wrap handle, spray spar urethane finish - done. Built in one day. I wish I could get more into finishing work, but for some reason, it doesn't appeal to me. I admire you guys that turn out these works of art on this site. I ain't that guy..... This little bow shoots flat and will get the job done. I realized that I didn't have a pic of it unstrung. It came in with about an inch of set, which I don't mind at all. Here is a plain jane bow to follow Pat B's artistry. :)

Good job, Howard. I came through that way a couple weeks ago when I attended the shoot at Tannehill. Thought I might see you there. I would love to see some of your bows up close. Maybe even shoot one!! ;)

Holler at me the next time you are near Livingston Kenny! I hate I missed the Tannehill Shoot. I am intending to make it to the classic this year. Are you going?

Came out great! Excellent work. Jawge

Thanks Jawge! Looking at the weather channel, I guess it was wrong of me to pose in a t shirt down here while y'all are white with snow. ;)

Ya got a real fine specimen there Mr. Rhodes. I dont see a darned thing wrong at all, including the spartan look, my kind of bow right there.

Nice work Howard. I was peering at a bunch of telephone pole straight white oaks yesterday when the boys and I where out chasing bunnys. I need to cut a stick so I can try it later.

I'll take function over beauty any day, Howard!!! Nice white oak bow.
-
Great job on that bow. You should have seen my 4th bow, hahaha!
-
Thanks so much fellows. That was the fourth one from that one tree. I have lost count on how many I have made in the last couple of years. This bowmaking stuff is habit forming! :D
-
I agree with pat, i'll take function over decoration any day! Remember, minimalism is an art form, too, and that bow is beautiful.

I have every intention of going this year, Howard. I talked to Pappy the other day and they got hotels in that part of the country. Not sure if I can camp, but should make the shoot. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

another nice one Howard, glad somebody is as nuts about white oak as me, Bub
-
Thanks rufledt! That's the way I like them. just the basics.
Good deal Kenny. I will see you there. I will only be there for Saturday and Sunday, but I am looking forward to seeing you there.
Bub, i am nuts about it. More than half the time, when i get an urge to build one, I reach for some white oak.

Another nice White Oak bow. I love the simple primitive look over beauty also...

Looks great Howard. One day build, you must of worked up a sweat on that one in that southern tee-shirt weather. ;)
Probably made that bow on the day when I was shoveling 12" of snow this past week. You lucky dog. :D
