I got this hog this morning hunting a WMA nearby. I found the bunch about 9:00,then after "sneak running ",to keep the wind right, for about 15 minutes, finally got ahead of them.I had a canebrake directly ahead of me,and thick brush around, but ,when this one walked around a big water oak,at about 30 yards, it seemed to look right through me.I was at full draw, and it felt as if I was standing out in the open.I held it a while, but as it dug along,I let down. It turned, went back around the tree, and I thought I'd missed a chance, but it came back.It rooted along getting a little closer, but still facing me. I got that"feeling" it was fixin' to happen, and sure enough it turned broadside at 25 yards.I released and my 670 grain switchcane arrow topped with a razor sharp band-saw trade went through both lungs. It made it about 30 yards and piled up. I killed it with an Eastern Hophornbeam D-bow I built a few months ago.52#@26".A very exciting hunt. God Bless

That is just awesome Pete.  I am going to meet with a property owner tomorrow night who is having a hog problem.  Hopefully my visits will result something similar.  Nothing like that switchcane is there.

Thanks fella's. This sow was freshening and would have farrowed in a few weeks. She had a good sweet smell to her.She should be excellent eating. You're right stringstretcher,it's hard to beat switchcane. I weighted these particular shafts up with extra coats of spar varnish. God Bless

One more thing.I posted an E. Hophornbeam flatbow that ,with help from a friend who has let us hunt his place for years,we built a nice bow for him ,which I posted. His bow is from the clean side of the 4" tree, and mine was the knotty side. This is the D-Bow I built from that piece. God Bless
