If I sinew a bow, can I first put on tip overlays and then sinew around them to help secure them or is the sinew reinforcement enough for small tips?
Working on a buckthorn that is 49" and will get sinew soon.
I really am gonna finish something soon too :-[

When you lay on your sinew just stop short of the tips a couple of inches. Since the last part of the limb is nonworking you really won't need it there.

I do the same as Knapper. The last few inches of the limb are non-working(in most cases) and adding sinew to that area just adds the extra physical weight without the performance factor of the sinew.
Where I end the sinew backing I add a sinew wrap. If I'm adding snake skins also I put them over the sinew wrap and add a decorative wrap over that.
