Just finished my second bow of the year. Self Yew ELB for a lefthander 48# @26"
It has a nice reflex kick in the lower limb and a bit of lateral waggle there too so it's an ELB with some real character.
I've done another 'primitive archer' sculpture for an exhibition, this time in copper, he's a bit chunkier than the wooden one, what he's lost in looseness and freedom he's gained in power and gravitas.
I particularly like his shoulderblades which pinch together just like they do at full draw.
Particular care was taken with the bow and hand positioning. It all lines up correctly with the right distance from hand to bow tips matching the two bow positions. The arrow was originally made from a bit of brass, but just didn't look right, so I hammered som copper to get it straight and hard with a bit of a point at the end... much better.
That's a slice of Yew he's standing on of course :), held down with copper nails.
The copper is from some big old central heating pipe which came out in the Summer when I fitted a new boiler. Much thicker than the new stuff :)

Being left handed and only 26" draw it's going to be hard getting a decent shot, although I did do some of the shooting in lefthanded. There's the hole in my workshop draws to proove it :o
I'll try to get Mrs Cat to take a pic later.

Stand up job as always! That sculpture is 'primitive' in design maybe but very elegant. As is that piece of kink'd yew you teased a beautiful bow out of.
-
Nice tiller on the sculpture bow 8) ;D and absolutely the most beautiful nocks I've ever seen on the catleg bow. Those are gorgeous.
-
it's all been said but i'll say it anyway, both are awesome ;D
As for your tiller, well, it's a typical Del tiller.... just right ;) That reflex kink area appears to be doing it's fair share based on brace and full draw. I love it. Bet that'll get some wagging heads at the range/shoots >:D

Very nice... Senor Poosey! 8)

Gorgeous. Those inlays are beyond me.

Del, I'm amazed how you get the motion of drawing and loosing an arrow in a static sculpture. It's incredible!

If I were forced to chose only one, the bow or the sculpture, I would have to commit seppuku in order to not shame myself by grabbing both and running away. Del, these two items do a wonderful job of showing off just who you are, an amazing blend of artist and artisan.
My hat is off to you, sir.
-
you are an artist Del.very nicely done sir.and Pappy,i never get tired of the shorts jokes.maybe Del can make a statue of me for your mantle in your cabin.lol
-
Wow! That is some very nice work Sir. That strike plate inlay through the knot took my breath away.

great artwork on the sculpture!
If the bow is balanced in your feel, I would leave it - even if it looks crazy

Would that I were a bit better of an artist! I'd just love to scribble out and post a drawing of that guy roasting a mouse on a spit turning it slowly over a fire!!! ;D ;D ;D
