hi there i am thinkin of making a mollegabet style bow. i know people have asked this before but i though i would ask again with the dimension and wood i have to use. i have an ash board 70" long full 2" wide and just over 3/4 inch thick, i would rather make a shorter bow than 70" though, the draw length is around 26" thanks for any help danny.

64" should be long enough.
3/5 working limbs and 2/5 stiff levers. 8" handle, stiffened with a glued on handle piece.
Widest point of the limbs full 2" wide, tapering to 1 3/4" at the end on the working limb. Stiff levers tapering from 7/8" at the shoulder to 1/2" tips. Thin the working limbs down to 5/8" and start floor tillering from there. Don't thin the levers and handle for now.

thanks darksoul. :)

Check out half eyes posts on the mollys. Blackhawk's posted some you can look at and misslemaster as well. I think darksoul is leading you the right direction, just consider refining that some.

cheers slimbob. i checked out halfeyes and the other posts there is some good info. i have ruffed the bow out to the dimensions darksoul gave me and was wondering if i have done the measurements correct. i have a 8" handle and fades and the levers are 9" and the working limb is 17" does this seem ok?. the reason i ask is because the levers dont look as long as some i have seen on here. thanks danny.

I agree with slimbob, halfeye has been a great help to me recently with Molly designs. He has made some beauties and he is very willing to help. Great guy and great bow maker in my opinion.

Check your math. 64" bow, X 1/2 = 32" - 4" for handle and fades = 28". 2/5 for levers would be 11.2" levers with 16.8 working limb.
-
yep thats what i got.i just rounded the 16.8" up to 17" for easier reckoning. i didnt count the fades from working limb to levers so i do have have 11.2. so do these sound good to go. thanks danny.

Yep. I've not seen one made from Ash, but I'm curious to see the results. Post a few pics if you can.
