My brother & I were out arrowhead hunting last sunday. We didn't find any artifacts worth mentioning, but we did find an ancient flint quarry. These nodules were picked up in 5 minutes. There are some that look to be 40± lbs just lying on the ground . More nodules than you can shake a spalling hammer at. This place has some of the largest nodules I have seen. They seam to be very good stone. Tower

It was more like six minutes really. ;D Cannot wait to go again.

I am so jealous, even if we had any flint here it would all be covered up with snoooooooow. 6 degrees and a mean wind driving a side ways whiteout. :( :( :(. Looks like some good stone, what kind is it. Later Bob

Its Edwards flint. Colors range from a tan with light banding to a rootbeer. Fairly common stone for this area. Hopefully I will get to spall it tomorrow.

If someone would told me 2 years ago That I would be grinning like the butcher's dog staring at a photo of a pickup truck with rocks in it........ man that's a beautiful sight :o
-
Wait... that truck was empty last time I saw it! :o ;D
-
Patrick that's what I found the day after I saw you. Heck now I have to clean it out again.

Must be nice I have to wait for 2foot of snow to melt and for the frost in the ground to thaw..let alone for it to be warm enough to wade through the creeks before I can even begin to get rock!...I'm. Te3lling u as did my wife before I'm dead I'm moving to a warm area with lots of flint!...

Well its 78 degrees here today w/ lots of stone to be gathered.
-
It's hard not to have stone with you at all times, ain't it? Even for a few hours... ;)
-
A knapper with no stone in his truck, is like having a gun with an empty magazine.

Wife and I had the pleasure to go on a rock run with the Tower brothers last year who sir'ed and mam'ed us to death. Two of the most polite people we met up with in Texas. At the end of the day they handed all the rock that was collected so we could bring it back to Michigan. Yup, good people.
-
JEB, my brother and I thank you for the compliment. You and you wife are welcome to come back anytime for some rock.
