Title: Do you reflex working limb
Post by: Jodocus on January 22, 2013, 03:38:40 pm
So, any point? Say I got a deflex kink in a limb, Is it a good idea to reflex it? I see a lot of people heat treating their bows reflexed. My interest is not in the heat treating, but the final shape after some serious shooting. I have only bent non-working parts up to now.

I wouldn't reflex just the area that was deflexed. The reflex should be even in both limbs.

You can correct, reflex, heat treat all in one most times. Clamp the whole bow into your desired shape and dry heat.

Sounds scary, but I guess I'll just have to give it a try... Thanks for all the advice.

Slow and steady heat until its hot enough to bend easily.  If you keep a little pressure on it with your hand you will feel it start to give when you hit the right temp.  Don't burn it!

Can you post a pic of your deflexed spot?
