Here is my 2nd finished buckthorn bow. This is the one I nicknamed 'Freaky Phylis' while I was working on it. My wife Sharon took a liking to this bow so I decided to finish her out to her specs and give it to her much to her delight. Difficult time tillering this one mostly
due to a small area of reflex above the handle and a whoop dee doo and swirl past mid limb, both problem areas on the top limb. Tiller
looks a little wonky because of those areas but I think stress in that top limb is fairly even :-\
specs; 59.5" ntn
30# @ 23"
Bison bone tips from Carson (cmb)
Finish is leather dye and acrylic clear coat, handle is dyed deer skin
Thanks for looking

Nice bow Greg. Your wife's expression says it better than I can.
-
A lot of character on that bow. Nice job on the overlays, really sharp.
-
I think you have Buckthorn figured out. Nice jobs back to back.
-
Thanks for the nice comments guys, appreciate it.
When I was working the first buckthorn bow a couple months ago she looked at it and said let me see if I can pull that bow. Well that
was my clue that she wanted one of these wonky character buckthorn bows of her own. Now we just need some warmer weather so we can get outside and see how it shoots for her.

Very nice Bow Greg.
My wife has done the same, she's out in the shop daily looking and asking ? After my youngest daughter ask for a bow, wife said yea, I'd like one too. ;D

Simply awesome! Great looking character bow. Between you and Cody Buckthorn has sure become a top line bow wood! Congratuulations
-
Thanks again everyone, the wife is pleased that you all approve of her new bow. :)
Cody' A friend gave me this buckthorn, two larger diameter logs that I got 6 staves from. I know places where this stuff grows like crazy
just have to find out how to get permission to cut some or if you want I'll swing by and pick you up to be my look out while I do a
midnight raid. ;)
I'm really liking this wood and would have never tried it until I saw what you were building from it.

Nice work Greg. I like the subtle paint highlights at those tips. Looks like you made her happy.

You made a bow out of another gnarly piece of wood! I like those bone nocks. I am gonna have to try that. Lots of character on that stave. Great looking bow Greg.
