Title: Osage for trade
Post by: bowhntineverythingnh03743 on January 17, 2013, 11:42:02 pm
Hey guys I just had another craving for trying a Yew stave. Any one out there have a yew stave they would want to trade for an osage stave? I would want to build a bow around 62-66 inches TTT. Anyone interested. The staves I have are seasoned for some time now... around three years I have pictures on another link which I am looking for a straight stave if you just look. There are three of them and two can definately have a belly split to em to get two staves.

My best week in the saddle of my old Motobecane Gran Touring toted up a smidge over 800 miles.  That was on a ride from the Canadian border in North Dakota heading to Texas.  Somehow wan't quite as excited about bicycles after that trip.

Nice looking osage you got there.  Sadly, no yew in South Dakota, either.

Hey JW-
Do you have any straight osage staves that don't have any knots or really big dips in it. I really want to make a recruve and was gonna follow Gordon's build a long to do so. Thats really the only reason I was looking for yew (since his was built with it)... Let me know if that may be something you have or wanna trade for... i just have no use right now for these staves and would really like to see them be turned into some beauties.

Thanks Justin

Why not use them? I dont see why you cant make a static with either. Heat guns will move osage almost anywhere you need it to go.

Sounds like you would be competitive at 250 miles per week!
