There are some new yorkers that make it down..maybe find em n catch a ride...heck even if you can make it to Pittsburgh u can hitch a ride with me...I make the 9 hour drive and it is well worth every second of it to attend the classic. Also a couple folks up by Erie,pa that go...find out who's semi close to ya n hitch a ride...anyone going will gladly let you tow along. Because the best part about the classic isn't the shooting, bowmaking, flintknapping, food etc.....its the people.
-
Well sed blackhawk i always save up and fly im about the same distence but im south in texas heck itl prolly only be close to 300$ to fly from NY If you get your tickets early enough. Thats way cheaper then fuel cost and itl only take a frw hours instead of close to 12-14 hr drive

About 6000 miles for me after all my trips a year ;D
-
WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE DURING MY FINALS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!
-
someday i will be there, just look for the guy that has everything held together with duct tape except my bows, their held together with caveman duct tape (sinew). duct tape is actually where my nickname "ducky" came from but since i have been called everything from "duck master" and "duckduckgoose" to "the mighty duck"

Just be sure it is your own vehicle, Lane! ;D
Pat u make it sound like you've misplaced your vehicle before there..would it have been after the late night festivities of shooting the you know what and being passed the mason jar too many times? ;)
Ya know if I saw lane passed out in my vehicle id just chuckle n laugh, then walk away n leave him be to sleep

Long story ??? Pat. ;) :) :) :) :-[
Pappy
-
Chris, that was exactly it. It was the year before the flood and I got rained out of my tent so I went to my car to sleep only to find someone else already sleeping( ::)) there.
-
  ......doh!!!!!!.......oh, all the good times and stories that happen at the classic ;D
-
There are some things that can happen even with out the mason jar advantage....lol. Last year, I made a trade with Pappy for a beautiful osage snake skinned bow he had made and this was my first ever classic. Now to most that would just be a typical deal, but not for me. This was my first ever snake skinned bow, so I took it and placed it along the edge of my ten on the floor across from my cot so I could admire it at a glance.
Well the first morning after getting the bow, I woke up after sun up and just happen to glance over and seen it all pretty just resting there. What a beautiful sight. The next morning was a totally different story.
When I got up the second morning, it was dark, and I mean dark. No problem. Just get your flash light Charlie and get dressed and move one. Well that was to be a huge mistake. As I sat up after getting my flash light and getting myself out of my sleeping bag and sitting up on the edge of the cot, my flash light went the full length of a huge snake that had crawled into my tent some how, and I come totally unglued. I pulled my feet up over the top of my head, and fell backwards off of the cot, on to the floor that a snake was on, and I was beating every thing in that tent up with a vengeance to stay alive. It was not a pretty sight or feeling I am telling you. But is a memory that will last a life time.

Wish the classic was during July, can't miss my AP's

It was real funny......two days after it happend....lol. And just for the record, I have not drank in 9 years...lol.
-
Charlie, thats what the Mason Jar is for. Had you partook you would not have woke up at sunrise and that mean ole snake would have had a chance to escape! ;D
-
Pat is right Charles.that snake would have been gone by noon.
-
ROFLMBO. Yeah, but I got first hand knowledge of what that jar can do to people. There were only a hand full of people that showed up the next morning until about noon....lol
-
I had forgotten about that Charlie, still makes me laugh. :) I can just see you scrambling in that tent. ;D ;D

-

I would hardly call it singing more like catawhallin and you must have mistaken bumbling for dancing but cooking on the other hand is something that I do enjoy. Ron
-
you are a great cook Ronnie.that fried chicken was some of the best i have eaten.i told my mom that it was better than hers.probably shouldn't have done that.no fried chicken since lol.those rutabagas where awesome.can't wait to see ya brother.

Yep the guy can cook, the low country boil wasn't bad either,I actually got a bite last year. ;) :)
Pappy

Pappy, why don't you post a list of things to bring along? Food, camping gear, good trade items, and such. This would help out us first timers. And, if there's anything anyone needs toted from East Tennessee, I'll be bringing a pickup.
-
I'll just start a thread and all can join in should be interesting.

All I ask is that my buddy Will has a drum kit set up for me when I get there! Nothing fancy Will, just a mounted tom, floor tom and a kick drum will be okay. One crash and some hi-hats and I will keep up with ya'!
-
I'll see what I can do pearly! ;) lol
-
We can have a drum roll when ever someone fires the first arrow out of a new bow.
-
You can always beat on a hollow log Pearl. ;) :) Good pictures ,at least Miss Cathy
was in one to pretty it up a bit. :)
Pappy
-
Don't give Cathy all the credit, Pappy. ;D
-
Ask any Twin Oaks boys, we could not put on the Classic without the help of friends from other places, I'd throw out some names but you guys know why you are. It's all about passing it along. Without you folks to assist we'd fall over the cliff.
-
Jon,you guys work you butts off for us.i for one really appeciate all you do.i get there early and have seen all the work that goes into the classic.you guys fed 750 people on a saturday night.that in its self is an amazing feat.twin oaks is a well oiled machine my friend.
-
After reading this thread you guys got me all lathered up to get my kansas butt in gear and make the trip happen this year.
It sounds to me like we might fit right in with you boys. Our big thing has been going to OJAM every year. We take a pretty large contingent. In the evenings we eat like kings and break out the guitars and the jug and have a grand ole time around the fire. There are alot of folks there and for the most part every body goes to bed pretty early. I guess our idea of early is early in the morning, lol. A couple of years back there was a group of boys scouts camped on the other side of the cedars from us not too far away. I think they may have earned a badge of merit for putting up with our drunken revelery that night. I felt the need to appologize to the scout leader the next day for our keeping them up all night. He was pretty gracious and informed me that had they not had the boys with them, they would have been right in there with us.
I mentioned to my wife that if I'm not knee deep in a hail storm in early may that we need to try and make plans to take the trip. I'm gonna do a cost analysis on driving verses flying. If we flew the big challenge would be where to sleep cuz i sure don't wanna miss any of the late night festivities by staying in a hotel. She sounds like shes game so theres a good chance it'll happen.
I'll let you guys know when a solid decision is made. Danny
-
you won't regret it Danny.sounds like you would fit right in.
