Not very often in here that someone posts a gorgeous bow and I am more intersted in the shooter than the bow!!! I'm in conflict, not sure which is prettier, the bow or her.

love purpleheart. great bow even better gift for your sis.   i'm impresed she can pull that weight(probably less than 50 if her draw length is shorter) but looks like only two finger draw and no glove and in the cold.  :o

Nice bend on that bow and it looks like it suits her well. Also looks like she knows what she's doing when it comes to shooting. :)

ahaha thanks for the comments Trapper Rob, Hrothgar, autologus, soy, and Badly Bent

I will let her know how you feel JW :)

Erictheviking -  Shes draws less in the winter but can shoot 50# @ 28" quite well :)  i think she is focusing on form for the pic :P

Tiredtim - I get my purpleheart at my local finishing lumber store, they happen to have an "imported wood" section with lots of different stuff.  Just so happens that they were becoming overstocked with nice straight purpleheart and had a decent sale :)

Oh! i was super intimidated by purpleheat's chysally reputation for a belly wood, but it worked well.  With narrow-ish tips it shoots relatively quick and without handshock.  All in all, if i had another request for such a bow, i wouldnt hesitate to make another :)  ahhhh the only noobly trouble i had was with the handle popping off.  I found out early that it is some super hard stuff and decided to thickness plane a good chunk of the thickness out.  of course the 1/2 inch thick handle block was too ridgid so i had to opt for 3 thinner lams of ironwood and feather them out.  and the problems vanished :)

great job, I love working with Purpleheart as well. I was at my woodcraft store the other day and they had a lot of nice pieces of exotic woods. I mainly go thru their scrap box and get plenty for knife and bow handles and inlay work.
And tell your sis, she is a very beautiful lady and she lucky to have a brother who makes her nice bows  ;)
Thanks for sharing,
