hi. i have some elder wood seasoning and was wondering when its time to make a bow from it can you use the wood straight under the bark or will i have to chase a ring on it. the wood under the bark seems very hard. the main reason i ask is there are lots of knotty clusters on it and was abit unsure about working around them and i also quite like them i think they would look good on a finished bow.

Yes Danny, use the wood under the bark. I've not made an elderberry bow but thats what I'd do.
Generally when there are natural irregularities(limbs, thorns, warts) in wood the wood is thicker around them.
