Title: Anaconda
Post by: Dvshunter on December 16, 2012, 06:22:54 pm
I just recently was finishing this one up and took it to the family Christmas over the weekend. I'm glad I took pics cuz it didn't make it home.

Osage selfbow with anaconda skin. Cow horn and osage tips. 8 strand ultra cam string. Deer hide grip and arrow plate/shelf. 61 ntn and 48@28.

Very nice bow and great tiller Dave! But wheres the sapwood? ;) I notice a lot of your bows have an r/d shape to them, just wandering if u heat the deflex in or is it natural set in the inner limbs? I only ask because I was thinkin of making myself a new heating caul and was contemplating putting some deflex in the inner limbs.

Thanks everyone!  This one was supposed to be a bit heavier, but I kept tinkering with it and missed weight. The guy that it was for wanted a simple osage r/d with no skins or special character so after this one came in light I decided to pretty it up. I let him shoot it and he changed his mind and decided he could live with the weight too. ::) lucky he is my best friend and I know I'll still get to shoot it when I want.

Oakie, I have a caul that I made a few years ago to heat em. And don't worry about the sapwood, I've got one sappy osage, and one sappy mulberry I'm working on.  ;)

Rps, that was the whole skin I just cut it in half lengthwise. I still have two more just like it. >:D

Blackhawk, that's why I decided not to send it to you.  ;D I knew you wouldn't want it.

Very nice. How do you feel that R/D design feels as opposed to just reflex? I really like the look of those skins. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks josh and Ryan.

I like the r/d profile myself. It seems to have a bit more speed and less shock for me.
